He was ten points short.

This was a quick 150 point warm up match that ended up being our only match of the night. Tyler is my regular opponent and “Frenemy”. Great Panoceania player and even better SAA. He’s put the jungle veterans to the grinder against me and many other opponents. We really wanted to throw down our painted forces, and I had just returned from some 3 months of Army armored training so 150 was the sweet spot. My rustyness really showed in this mission, and the low order pool/elite models punished me. Without further ado let's jump into the lists.

My core was a 3 man fireteam of Druze, relying on the HMG for active, and viral pistols/panzerfaust as AROs. With the pathfinder as a support element, and the Hunz as a hunter/back up fighter. The sniper and LT were there in case shit hit the fan. My overall strategy worked pretty well with the Hunz, but the link got chewed up.

Tyler:

For starters, my experience playing 150pt games is limited. I'm unused to the meta so I decided to go with a fairly balanced force. 7 orders all told and... only 140 points. It was only after the patch that I realized that I was down points. Oh well, a win is a win this case. I strove to control the middle area because we were playing antenna field. To do this I brought along two Nagas, a KHD and a mine layer(for the shell game). I also brought along a bulleteer equipped with a spitfire as my primary attack piece. I also brought along a regular link team with a sapper/sniper. I knew the sniper would be good at locking down long firelanes.

We played transmission matrix on this board.

I lost the roll, Tyler took turn order and went second. I made him deploy first.

My deployment

His deployment

His buleteer. HVT By the camo marker, and Naga ontop in camo prone

I deployed DENIED FLANK with most of my forces on the left side, attempting to sweep him left to right and utilize my HMG range bands to pick off his link team. He seemed to castle near his left most antennae (right for the majority of pictures). He threw down his naga in a building, and on top of one of the center buildings. My hunz went down nearby to go after his HVT and harass the bot. There’s something about skirmishing midfields that jams my jitters. Sneaking around trading gunfire and such.

“Narrative”

The small town was sillhoueted against the sky. The orange sun burning a dance behind each building. Shadows stretched forward as we sped towards the meeting point. The buggy bounced and creaked as it’s suspension handled the rough terrain. The only sound in the cab was the belts of ammo slapping against the larger Africans machine gun. I shifted my rigging, checking once more over my gear. Taped together magazines hung out of pouches, my water sources hose slapped lazily against my chest rig. It was supposed to be a hand off, but the pirates in the area were known for their recklessness. My eyes moved from my helmet, it’s yellow surface shone back at me. Slanted eye sensors glowed dark blue in standby mode. The Africans had given it to me, one of their wounded unable to make it on the mission. The foreign script on the side apparently read “Sickened Hound”, my new identity for today. My wounds stung where the bandages were glued to me. I had survived, but barely. Battles seemed longer, and fights harder. I looked towards our cargo, her suit torn in multiple places, pants hanging loosely around her thighs. Her eyes met mine with fear, the gag in her mouth was hilariously oversized and painful looking. I locked eyes with the socket sensors on the female Africans helmet. A hyena pelt draped over her shoulders, her neon blue hair formed a stark contrast. She slowly shook her head and looked forward towards the suddenly close shanty town. I could see personnel and a small crane in the center of the area.

“SCHZZZZZZ-----SCHRREEEEEET!” Reeling, I ripped my headphone out. Vibrating at the sheer noise emitting from it I tossed it onto the dusty trail. The Africans weapons were already loaded and aimed towards the figures.

DRUZE TURN ONE

Hunz vs Naga point off

My Hunzkaut activates, peeks out and fires a burst at his HVT. I miss everything

Hunzkaut rounds the corner towards the buleteer/antennae, and misses another full burst

The Hunzkaut gets to the antennae, kills the HVT.

Coordinated order moves the Hunz, Druze, and pathfinder up into better positions.

Hunz drops a mine blocking the buleteer,

Hunz crawls on top of building and goes prone.

Wewlad. My intent for this turn was to save those 2 orders shooting at the HVT and use

them to reposition my Druze instead. But they got a little left in the wind because of my Hunzkauts aim. I think I had the right idea going into it, but the lack of orders at 150 is a huge adjustment!

SAA TURN 1

The buleteer goes away from the mine and engages my Druze Panzerfaust, trading innefective fire my Druze guts back.

The Naga racks a round in his shotgun, sprise shots my panzerfaust, knocking her unconcious. Then the Naga activates again and kills my KHD Druze.

The Buleteer moves into the center obj

The naga turns to face my hunzkaut.

RIP. I should have just chain colted the Naga to death, I always forget that weapon. Tyler played the Naga very well, and made short work of my Druze team. He was left a little high and dry, but had secured his first turn very well.

“NARRATIVE”

A final kick knocked the drone from its resting place. It’s sensors glowed orange, then settled to blue as it’s routines kicked in. The buggy rocked as high velocity rounds wormed their way over it’s hull. A few finding their place, crackling and hissing like huge insects. The belt fed M240 had run dry in the first 30 seconds, but not before the tyres had been obliterated.

I watched as the drone crawled it’s way past the buggy, firing bursts from it’s rifle as it went. Tracking information and geometrics uploading into my helmet almost immediately. I felt a kick on my shoulder and raised my head to look at the woman in the back, her eyes wide as tears streamed down her face. I gave her a shrug and pulled her pants up to cover her pink frilly panties. My abdomen ached as I sprinted behind the waddling drone. It’s machine gun keeping the pirates head down as we advanced.

My webbing clanked as my body pressed up against the hardened mud wall of the building. The drone finally stumbling into place next to me as multiple rounds spanked off it’s graffiti covered hull. My eyes searched the area, trash blowing like commercialized tumbleweeds I had no choice but to think of Western films. Mud buildings with wood and metal scraps surrounded me, holding death at any angle. I looked in vain for the Africans but they had already began a sweeping maneuver onto the source of fire. I heard a whistle and snapped my gun to its source.

“Ay, gimme a sec mate, that big gun given ya trouble?”

I swore as Roach’s toothless methamphetamine mouth smiled over me. HIs sniper rifle hung low in his hands. A giant pair of pink fluffy dice laced around the barrel. He turned back towards the source of fire. I slapped the drone on the hull, it made a low whirring noise and played an audio track.

“Ready when you are captain”

Feeding into the nearest micro drone I spotted the source of machine gun fire. A makeshift technical sat in the middle of town. It’s wheels rusted out, the only functioning part of the truck was the Soviet designed machine gun mounted on top of it’s cab.

WHIPFT-CRACK, WHIPFT-CRACK, Roaches sniper rifle functioned perfectly. The machine gunners upper body split at the breast plate as the high impact rounds landed dead on top of each other. Spraying the ammunition assistant and the bed of the truck in misted blood. The assistant, a younger child, recoiled away screaming.

I slapped the drone twice more and we rounded the corner. I sucked in a deep breath and wondered about my pay.

The first shot went low, the frag round exploding and slicing apart the woman's ankles. Screaming she turned towards me, her Uzi spitting hollow point rounds skywards. Her red hair spilling over her Chinese made armor. It’s angled design and impact gel no match as my second round caught her in the hip. Exploding bone shrapnel and intestines marked her demise as she spun to the ground. Her bullets bouncing off the drones armor in front of me.

Keeping low I crouched behind the trundling drone, bullets continued to dust off it’s armor. We passed the woman lying on the ground, her mouth half open releasing shallow breaths. I finally let out my own breath in unison with her last.

Peering around the side of the drone as we cleared the machine gun “Nest” I noticed the child had abandoned the position, only making it a few meters before roach had-

“Ay hahaha turn’ tha’ yoke to spaghettos’ man” Roach’s yells reached my ears over the din of semi automatic fire. I could only grin at the man's determination to get paid.

DRUZE TURN 2

My sniper fired at, and failed to kill his buleteer.

My HMG moves into the antennae, and kills his Naga.

My Hunzkaut fails to kill the buleteer.

My SNIPER, HUNZKAUT, AND PATHFINDER coordinate and fail to kill the buleeteer.

I move my hunz to hold the antennae and readjust her sights.

SAA TURN 2

His buleteer gets blinded trying to kill my pathfinder.

His naga moves out of the building, suprise shots my Hunzkaut and kills her.

He moved stuff around and took too many orders to do anything.

“NARRATIVE”

A new sound overwhelmed the center of town. “CHUG CHUG CHUG CHUG CHUG” the Africans heavy machine gun began stitching death across the marketplace. It’s exp rounds detonating fruit stalls and scrap parts. Sending a strange mixture of organics and metal spraying across the area. I dove for cover landing hard on my chest, my weapon skidding out from under me.

Two figures sprinted across in front of me, one seemed to shift and move with the sand. I scrambled for my side arm as the second figure slowed to face me. I gripped the Ivory cast hilt as the large black man stopped and began firing from the hip. The drone facing away from him took a system hit and staggered under the slug rounds. He was bare chested wearing camouflage pants with monkeys on them. Gold chains criss crossed his chest. His eyes met mine and I felt his weapon beginning to shift aim. I squeezed the trigger on the African pistol. The weapon was almost silent, only a faint muzzle flash existed as the round broke air pressure. The man jerked slightly as it entered below his right pectoral muscle, the exit wound spraying the wall behind him. His left hand left the weapon, now firing one handed wildly he staggered backwards. His mouth began contorting into a scream, clearly audible over the machine gun fire. I fired another round into his abdomen, he continued to stagger and scream. I scrambled against the wall, sitting up and checking the area as the man continued to scream. His skin turning ashy and pale. The man dropped to his knees, chains clanking together. His screams turned to gurgling as bloody foam began crawling up his throat. With a noise like a Thanksgiving turkey being dropped in front of the whole family the man's upper body exploded into a mix of intestines and shreds of skin. The heavy machine guns rounds continued their journey past his demise into the square.

Looking sideways, the drone was struggling to stand on its own. It’s weapon had run dry but continued to cycle. My hands automatically spidered their way across my vest and loaded a fresh magazine into my rifle. Slamming the bolt forward I took a deep breath of cordite and blood, and let myself smile slightly.

DRUZE TURN 3

My sniper knocks his buleteer unconcious.

My pathfinder continues to be an incredible resource and dies to his Naga.

I haplessly put my Druze HMG on supressing fire.

SAA TURN 3

He moves the naga onto the center button

His combi regular tries to kill my hvt after running 3 orders over there. And fails

Narrative

Moving past the disabled drone I crouched and ran towards our HVTs gps loc. Updates still being loaded by the micro drones I knew I was getting close. The Africans had reactivated their beacons and showed bright pink on my visor, they were close, but I was closer to the target. Rounding a corner I saw him. His fatigues were covered in dirt and blood, his ancient flight helmet scarred and damaged. His unit patch still bright and clean, a shield with a bar and horse. A large man had one grip around his neck, and a pistol against the base of his skull. Another man stood nearby, visor up and clearly in a cyberwar state. Standing, while his hands danced in the air spinning digital magic.

Our HVT’s eyes met mine, at the same time as the large mans. He jerked away from me, pushing the obnoxiously large revolver against our man's neck. I threw myself against a nearby fruit stand, bracing my rifle against it.

The large man began shouting in some Asian language, my translator barely able to keep up.

“Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck” My translator began to sound an error tone as I aimed at the man. The other still unaware of the situation transpiring around him.

I took a deep breath and blinked sweat and dust out of my eye, the inside of the helmet was well over 100 degrees and only climbing. I thumbed the release and the visor slid up. A wash of dust, cool air, and the smell of gunpowder hit me. I began mouthing the words “Give up”, over and over.

The large man had now walked backwards towards the hacker, and began kicking him in the calf trying to get his attention. Still screaming in whatever language he spoke, the man began looking towards the hacker screaming in his ear.

I had to make a move.

The hacker finally noticed the commotion and seemed to snap out of a trance. His hands came down to his sides then to his pack computer, pulling a cord out of his visor. The larger man turned towards him, trying to make eye contact.

Now.

I let out my breath.

My rifle kicked in my hands as the round flew out of the barrel towards the red dot projected onto the man. With a wet pop a better portion of the man's hand, weapon, and forearm disintegrated into the desert air. Screaming he pushed our HVT to the ground and fell backwards clutching his stump.

.

I rose away from the fruit stand and slowly walked towards the man. Our HVT covering his head on the ground as the larger man crawled backwards on his stump and hand, leaving a trail of blood. The hacker turning towards me raised his visor with one hand, our eyes met.

“Oh shit man”. I raised my weapon from the wounded man and approached the hacker.

A flash of movement caught my eye. The woman from the buggy sprinted past, jumping over the wounded man. I swore as I turned to face her, inhaling once more I aimed.

The round went wild, shredding her upper shoulder and exploding against a nearby wall spraying shrapnel into her face. Screaming she fell to the ground writhing and holding her shoulder. I turned back towards the hacker, his hands fumbling with his sidearm. He stopped and slowly looked up towards me.

“Fuck man I’m new man just let me go man”. The woman's screaming was ear piercing. The Africans machine gun had stopped it’s work, only the mumbling and pleading of the wounded man and the screaming of the woman could be heard.

Walking slowly to the woman I crouched and threw a shot of morphine at her. Her pants once more hanging off her legs. I turned and immediately raised my rifle. The Africans had finally entered the area. The female was staring at the woman and I, her blue lenses clicked and rotated in position as they focused. In less than 5 strides the large African crossed the vendor area approaching the hacker.

“Oh FUCK MAN COME O-” The man's jaw collapsed as the machine guns butt connected with his face, blood spewing across the ground. The African immediately began handcuffing the man, slinging him over his shoulder.

The woman was clawing at me now.

“Fucking ass hole, fuck fuck fuck” I reached my hand out and helped her stand up, bracing herself against me. She began to hit me in the shoulder plating. Her hair matted with blood, shrapnel sticking out of her eye socket.

A gurgled scream brought my attention back to the Africans. The wounded man lay on the ground, his head now streaming a red waterfall down onto his body. The female African held it high, a machete in the other hand. She continued to stare at me as I finally helped the woman up. Her soft sobbing and the splattering of blood the only sound in the market.

End 5-3 SAA MINOR VICTORY

A quick fun game that really emphasize order efficiency and positioning. We both learned that without full lists, your elements really have to be self contained. Either with their equipment (Chain colts/Boarding shotgun ranges) or with proper positioning. 150 also made us realize how many orders go into just moving, and how important mid field units really are when it comes to objective security. Tyler is already talking about adding Dart to his 2x Naga lists just for extra presence. I’m considering trying out Saito, and will probably be doing some experimental list building in the future.

For the future Druze:

I’ll be switching exclusively to Druze just to finally stick to a faction that I love. My next line of victims includes the Anaconda Tag. I’ll be using it in almost every game for the next few weeks. Really excited for the possibilities.
